July 11th, 2023 the Volusia County Council voted 6 to 1 to end the ban of dogs on the beach for this 0.6 of a mile stretch. It will NOT open until November 1st, 2023. 

  

As we celebrate this historic moment, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who played a part in this victory. To those who attended meetings and raised their voices, your bravery and commitment inspired us all. And to those who supported us from afar, your words of encouragement echoed like a chorus of cheers, uplifting our spirits when the journey grew challenging.

Smyrna Dunes Park

2995 N Peninsula Drive, New Smyrna Beach, Florida Located on the north side of the New Smyrna Beach peninsula, Smyrna Dunes Park offers amenities such as showers, bathrooms, plenty of parking, and over 2 miles of elevated wooden walkways that are accessible to leashed dogs and their owners. Throughout the park, you will find picnic tables as well as designated areas for fishing and swimming. Be aware: there are no lifeguards on duty, so never swim alone. Also, leash laws are strongly enforced within the park!Hours: Sunrise to Sunset Admission: $10 per car, $20 annual pass. 


 Pets are allowed on the inlet shore beach area and must be leashed at all times.  Pets are not allowed on the elevated park boardwalks after 10am.  Pets are never allowed on the Atlantic Ocean Beach.  

Lighthouse Point Park

Lighthouse Point Park

 5000 S Atlantic Avenue, Ponce Inlet, FloridaCross the Dunlawton Bridge and travel south on A1A until you come to Lighthouse Point Park, near the Historic Ponce Inlet Lighthouse. The park consists of 52 acres and features restrooms, showers (including a dog shower), pavilions, hiking/nature trails, fishing and swimming areas where dogs are welcome, but must remain on a leash at all times.Hours: Sunrise to Sunset Admission: $10 per car, $20 annual pass
